Efthymios Papastavridis

Efthymios(Akis) is a Part-Time Lecturer in Public International Law at the University of Thrace and a Research Fellow at the Academy of Athens since 2009; he has also been a Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Athens, Faculty of Law, a Visiting Fellow at the Refugee Law Initiative of the School of Advanced Study, University of London and Academic Visitor at the Faculty of Law of Oxford University. He has taught international law at University College London, Westminster University, University of Athens and the University of Oxford. He has consulted the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs on issues of law of the sea as well as the UN Office on Drugs and Crime on transnational organized crime at sea and the UNHCR on questions concerning rescue at sea. In 2012 Akis was appointed Director of the Centre for Research and Studies of the Hague Academy of International Law (English-speaking section).
